Versaperm Vapour Permeability measurement

Five Times improvement with enhanced paper coatings

Five Times improvement with enhanced paper coatings

The global pulp and paper market was worth 351.53 billion U.S. dollars in 2021, yet it suffers from a serious problem. The printability, mechanical handling, strength of paper, finished quality and a range of other features are all controlled by the vapour permeability of the paper and its coating.  Unfortunately, applying a coating commonly pushes the paper up to 500% or more out of specification due to defects such as foam streaks, pinholes and pits. This is a serious quality problem but Versaperm can provide an answer.

The issue is particularly critical for modern, environmentally sensitive, biopolymer coatings.  Versaperm has introduced arrange of new and improved systems to identify, measure and quality control it. The biggest problems are,  very commonly, caused by water vapour.

The latest systems help quantify and quality control the product and coating / laminating processes by very precisely measuring the vapour permeability.  The computerised Versaperm system can measure this quickly and accurately for water vapour or, optionally, for any other gas.  The systems are simple to use and needs, at most, minimal training to produce results with accuracies in the Parts Per Million (PPM) range, or even Parts Per Billion (PPB) for some gases and applications.

The systems are capable of testing this permeability for up to six coatings, samples, components or products at the same time, sometimes taking as little as 30 minutes. In addition to coatings it can also measure the permeability of films, laminates, foils and even finished, filled cartons.

Versaperm also offers consultancy and laboratory services for companies that only need samples tested on an irregular basis.
